Personalized Healthcare Recommendation System
Research Article • Article ID: IJREK-2026-00154
Abstract
People have different health needs, daily routines, medical histories, and lifestyle choices. As a result, general health advice may not be equally useful to everyone. This paper presents a proposed Personalized Healthcare Recommendation System that uses information provided by users to offer relevant wellness suggestions. The system considers factors such as age, gender, reported symptoms, diet, physical activity, lifestyle, and medical history. After processing these details, it can present suggestions related to healthy habits, nutrition, physical activity, and preventive care. The main purpose is to make health information easier to understand and more relevant to individual users. The system is intended to support health awareness and does not replace professional medical diagnosis or treatment.
Keywords
I. Introduction
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly being used to analyze data, identify patterns, and present information in a useful form. Healthcare is one area where these capabilities may help people make better-informed everyday decisions. However, advice that works for one person may not suit another because age, symptoms, activity levels, diet, and medical history can vary considerably. The proposed Personalized Healthcare Recommendation System aims to make general health information more relevant to individual users. It uses a person’s health profile to guide the suggestions presented by the system. The information may include age, gender, reported symptoms, lifestyle, physical activity, diet, and medical history. AI and Machine Learning methods may help identify patterns in these inputs and match them with suitable recommendations. The intention is to support health awareness and encourage healthy habits. The system is not designed to confirm a diagnosis or prescribe treatment; users should consult qualified healthcare professionals about medical concerns.
II. Problem Statement
Health information is often presented in a general format, making it difficult for people to identify advice that is relevant to their individual circumstances. Users have different lifestyles, symptoms, and medical histories. Therefore, a system is needed to organize user-provided information and present understandable wellness recommendations while maintaining appropriate medical safety boundaries.
III. Objectives
The main objectives of the proposed system are: 1) To develop a personalized healthcare recommendation system. 2) To collect and analyze user health-related information. 3) To provide suggestions based on individual user profiles. 4) To make relevant health information easier to access. 5) To encourage healthy lifestyle choices and preventive care. 6) To provide a simple and user-friendly interface.
IV. Proposed System
The proposed system begins by collecting health-related details entered by the user. These details are checked and processed to create a basic health profile. The recommendation module then uses the profile to select relevant guidance. Depending on the available information, the output may include general nutrition ideas, physical-activity suggestions, wellness habits, preventive-care reminders, or advice to contact a healthcare professional. The quality of the recommendations depends on the accuracy and completeness of the information provided by the user. The process can be represented by the following function:
R = f (A, G, S, L, M, D) (1) where: n Technology Purpose
- R represents the healthcare recommendation.
- A represents age.
- G represents gender.
- S represents reported symptoms.
- L represents lifestyle information.
- M represents medical history.
- D represents other relevant health data.
V. System Architecture
The proposed system contains six main components: 1) User Interface 2) User Health Profile 3) Data Collection Module 4) Data Processing Module 5) Recommendation Engine 6) Recommendation Output The user enters information through the interface. The system checks and prepares the data for analysis. The recommendation engine then selects relevant suggestions based on the resulting profile. These suggestions are displayed in a clear format. This modular design also makes it easier to update individual components in the future. C. Health Data Analysis The processed profile is examined to identify information that may affect the type of general guidance shown to the user. Any pattern identified by the system should be treated as informational rather than as a medical diagnosis.
D. Recommendation Generation The recommendation engine selects suggestions that match the user’s profile and the rules or model available to the system. Recommendations should remain within the intended role of wellness support.
E. Recommendation Display The system presents suggestions in plain language so users can understand the intended next steps. When symptoms or treatment decisions are involved, users should be encouraged to seek professional medical advice.
VII. Technologies Used
The proposed system may be developed using the technologies listed in Table I.

VI. Methodology
The proposed methodology follows a series of steps, beginning with data collection and ending with the display of recommendations. Each stage helps organize the information and produce understandable output.
A. User Data Collection The system collects basic information such as age, gender, reported symptoms, lifestyle, physical activity, diet, and medical history. Only information necessary for the intended purpose JavaScript Interface interaction Database Storage of user profiles, when required AI techniques Support for recommendation generation
VIII. Recommendation Algorithm
A basic recommendation score can be calculated using weighted health parameters. One possible representation is: Score = ∑︂ wixi (2) i=1 should be collected. where wi represents the weight assigned to a parameter and B. Data Preprocessing Before analysis, the system checks whether the entered values are complete and usable. Missing, inconsistent, or invalid entries should be flagged or handled carefully to reduce the chance of misleading suggestions. xi represents its corresponding value. The system may compare the processed information with predefined recommendation rules or a suitable trained model. The scoring method, weights, and recommendations would need to be defined and evaluated during implementation. A score alone should not be treated as a clinical assessment. User Input ↓ Data Processing ↓ Health Profile Analysis ↓ Recommendation Engine ↓ Personalized Suggestions
IX. Implementation
Python can be used to develop the main application logic, while HTML and CSS can support a browser-based interface. JavaScript can provide client-side interaction, and a database may be used to manage user profiles when storage is required. Machine Learning libraries can be considered if an appropriate dataset and a validated model are available. During use, the user submits the required information through the interface. The application validates and processes the inputs, passes the prepared profile to the recommendation module, and displays the resulting suggestions. Before the system is deployed, it should be evaluated for usability, data protection, and the consistency of its recommendations.
X. Applications
The proposed system may be useful in the following areas: 1) Personal health awareness. 2) Healthy lifestyle suggestions. 3) General diet and nutrition guidance. 4) Physical activity recommendations. 5) Preventive healthcare awareness. 6) Health education platforms. 7) Healthcare decision-support applications. 8) Telehealth support services.
XI. Advantages
The main potential advantages of the proposed system are: 1) It can present suggestions based on individual profiles. 2) It organizes health-related information in one place. 3) It can make general health information easier to access. 4) It may encourage preventive care and healthier habits. 5) It can provide a simple and accessible interface. 6) It can be extended with suitable data-analysis methods.
XII. Limitations
The usefulness of the recommendations depends on the accuracy, completeness, and relevance of the information entered by users. Incomplete data or unsuitable recommendation rules may produce unhelpful results. This paper does not establish a measured level of clinical accuracy, and the proposed system must not be treated as a diagnostic tool. Health information is sensitive. Any implementation should use appropriate access controls, secure storage, and clear consent practices. Recommendations should be reviewed and validated before being used in real-world healthcare settings.
XIII. Results and Discussion
The proposed design describes how user-provided health information can be organized and used to select relevant wellness suggestions. It outlines a workflow covering data collection, preprocessing, profile analysis, and recommendation display. Since this paper describes a proposed system rather than a completed clinical evaluation, it does not claim measured improvements in accuracy or health outcomes. A working implementation should be tested with appropriate data and user feedback before its effectiveness can be assessed.
XIV. Future Scope
Future work could evaluate suitable Machine Learning models using a carefully prepared and ethically sourced dataset. The system could also be extended to support mobile devices, multiple languages, and optional data from wearable devices, such as activity or sleep summaries. Any extension would require user consent, secure handling of personal information, and validation to ensure that the recommendations remain appropriate. A pathway for users to consult qualified healthcare professionals could further improve the system’s practical value.
XV. Conclusion
This paper has described a proposed Personalized Healthcare Recommendation System that uses information such as age, reported symptoms, lifestyle, diet, physical activity, and medical history to guide the selection of general wellness suggestions. Its main contribution is a structured workflow for collecting inputs, preparing a user profile, and presenting understandable recommendations. The system’s usefulness and reliability still need to be evaluated through implementation and testing. AI-based recommendations may support health awareness, but they should not replace a clinician’s assessment, diagnosis, or treatment advice.
